How to improve your Canada CRS score

A practical guide to language scores, ECA, work history and PNP strategy.

HRA Editorial · 7 checks before updating your profile

Use these seven checks to plan a stronger, accurately documented Express Entry profile. 1. Check program eligibility first: CRS ranks eligible pool profiles and does not replace program requirements. 2. Use current IRCC criteria. Job-offer and Canadian-work-experience scoring changed on 3 November 2026, so old point tables may not match the live system. 3. Compare language options: approved English or French test results can affect your score; work on the abilities that limit your result and update valid new scores. 4. Review education evidence. Foreign education claimed for points needs an eligible immigration ECA; check its equivalency, reference number and validity before claiming a credential. 5. Record work experience accurately. Match dates, duties, hours, location and supporting evidence to the relevant program. 6. Check whether a provincial nomination or accompanying-partner factors apply under current rules; assess realistic options rather than assuming every profile can claim the same points. 7. Recalculate after each genuine change, update your profile and keep evidence ready. A higher score never guarantees an invitation or permanent residence. Check the official IRCC CRS criteria, education-assessment guidance and profile instructions before paying for a strategy.
